My story: film photography & activism
Growing up in the mountains of New York, I fell in love with darkroom film photography and a friend taught me how to screenprint. The photo-emulsion process of screenprinting naturally progressed into tinkering with some adobe programs and I was hooked. When I transitioned to digital photography, I quickly began trying to capture the beauty of the world in earnest, hoarding photos onto hard drives & shooting photos everywhere I went. I began to become disconcerted by the disconnect I found between peoples’ view of the world outside their purview and the beauty I saw. At some point in college I began to want to fight for things, for causes, and for people; I began to develop my own message. The love and generosity of humanity is incredible - find something to admire in everyone.
I lived the last few years in Nicaragua, but sadly, the situation became violent and dangerous (video overview). My family and I moved to Zurich briefly and then my amazing wife got a job stateside, studying SARS-COV-2. We currently live outside of Worcester in New England.
People are my focus, in my professional spheres and in my community, I put down roots and seek to grow others. I live a “high tide lifts all boats” perspective.
We are all better together.
